Description
Our 3D Glasses Patch is just that, a patch that is 3D printed. However, we go a few steps further with the finishing of them. After it’s printed, we fill it with white epoxy and then hand finish it running it through multiple grits of sandpaper. Once it’s hit with 600gr sandpaper, it’s pretty much ready for some hook backing.
Because this is a hand finished product, there are bound to be some “voids” or “character flaws” in the surface finish. While these could be filled, I’ve chosen not to for two reasons. One – because the chances of them being successfully filled and finished are slim to none. I’ve attempted it and have not seen the results I desired. The mix of epoxy may be different, it may just pop off during finishing, it really just ends up as a waste of time. Two, it gives it character. While I could work on finishing until I’m blue in the face to get the EXACT finish I desire, it’s just not time efficient working with the materials I’ve chosen. While 3D printing has come a long way and has helped create an incredible product, it’s not without it’s challenges.
So what you have here is a product that I would dub “custom”, being hand finished and custom made just for us. You’ll only find this here, and you’ll only get kind of this top quality production here. I truly hope you enjoy it for years to come, and I truly appreciate your support.
